"SPRING 2016 FIRST SUNDAY AT THE MILL WORKS" (Rescheduled from April 3rd due to the storm)
Sunday, May 1st
Come join us on Sunday, May 1st from Noon to 5:00pm for the Spring 2016 "First Sunday at The Mill Works"! We are Celebrating Poetry Month with a "Poetry Jam" throughout the afternoon!
Poetry Readings will be scheduled throughout the afternoon with readings by by local student and adult poets. Attendees can also register to read and share their literary works. Musicians Steve Prout and Friends will also provide an acoustic set during the afternoon. Poetry readings and music performance will take place in The Packing House at The Mill Works.
"Visualizing Verse"
Throughout the afternoon, resident artist Chris Gunderson and Friends of The Mill Works Board President Marian Matthews invite guests to participate in exploring the relationship between art and poetry. Participants may select either a poem or a piece of art. They are then able to exercise their creativity by either developing an illustration based on a selected poem or a writing a poem based on the selected artwork.
Material will be provided to work with by the program hosts, but guests are strongly encouraged to bring work of their own to add to the collection.
